Meeple Scan is a free, open-source app run by Anzieu Labs Inc., with no account and no ads. Here is everything it keeps, why, and for how long.
Your photos
A photo is only sent to be read, then forgotten: it is never stored. It goes to our text-reading (OCR) server and to Google's Gemini API, which name the games on it. We use Gemini's paid plan: Google doesn't use the photos to improve its products.
What a photo leaves behind
To make recognition better, we keep the text read on the box, the games found and whether you said they were right. Nothing about you or your phone. Kept 12 months.
Usage statistics
We count visits: the page, the language, phone or computer, the site or link that sent you, and the photos taken. No cookie, no IP address, nothing stored on your device: a random number links the actions of one visit only. Kept 12 months. Vercel Web Analytics also counts page views, without cookies.
Feedback
Messages sent from Settings are kept with the app's language, and your email only if you give one, to answer you. Kept 24 months.
On your phone
Your history of scanned games and your language stay on your phone. Clearing your browser's data for this site removes them.
Who handles the data
Vercel hosts the app, Neon hosts the database, Google reads the photos (Gemini) and our own server reads their text. Game data comes from BoardGameGeek: nothing about you is sent there.
Your rights
You can ask what we have about you, or have it deleted, through the feedback form in Settings (give the email you used, if any). You can also complain to your data protection authority.
